I don't understand much Spanish, but the vibes on MOTOMAMI speak for themselves. The album is restless, jumping between experimental pop, minimalist reggaeton, flamenco, trap, and balladry, sometimes within the same track. ROSALÍA strips things back compared to her earlier work, letting sparse production and her vocal range do the heavy lifting. The result is an album that feels both intimate and massive. Tracks like SAOKO and LA COMBI VERSACE bring spunky, infectious energy, while ballads like G3 N15 and SAKURA gave me goosebumps.
Tons of these songs have been in heavy rotation for me. MOTOMAMI is a Spanish-language gem packed with spunk and melancholy, and one of the most distinctive albums of the 2020s.
